Never Say Die is the surprise 11th book in Anthony Horowitz's Alex Rider series. I have loved this series since the beginning, and remember reading that the 10th book Russian Roulette (which focused on Alex's nemesis) was the last book in the series. You can imagine my surprise, when browsing Amazon one day to find that a brand new Alex Rider novel was available for pre-order.

Never Say Die definitely had a different feel to it compared to the other books in the series. This time, Alex hadn't been dragged into an operation by Mr Blunt and Mrs Jones, but left of his own accord to try and find answers. The first 100 pages or so were quire solitary, with Alex being the main character mentioned. He did interact with the Pleasant family at the beginning but Alex came across as distant from them, and from his peers at school. There were of course, the expected fast paced action scenes, but the lack of dialogue and interaction with other characters was quite off-putting.

I was also quite disappointed with the quality of the cover, the book was hardback and cost over £0, but after 2 days of being carried around in the document section of my rucksack (with nothing else), the title artwork became patchy and looks as if I've had it for years!
