Synopsis: “In the first instalment of the ZK20 series Adam is separated from his friends; when while his wife is getting a kidney transplant the zombie apocalypse begins. He searches for his wife to no avail and heads home to find that there is nothing for him there. Meanwhile his two best friends Damien a modern day gun slinger, and Wes an insane truck driver are having their own problems with the impending end of the world. Through trials and tribulations they all find each other in what seems to be the only safe spot on the West coast. All is well until a group of outlaws kill, kidnap, and enslave the colony and the three have to take on the entire gang to save their friends and loved ones.”

Rating: ***

I received a free copy of ZK20 in exchange for an honest review.

On initial reading, the blurb sounded like a mixture of World War Z and Shaun of the Dead; a mix which I was more than happy to explore further.

This was definitely action driven opposed to character driven, and would appeal to readers who enjoy fast action films and possibly also fast paced computer games. Personally, I would have like there to have been more 'normal life' at the beginning to show the different between before and after.

The descriptions were brutal and unafraid of being so, and this was definitely the main positive for me. There were some editing issues that need to be sorted out, such as commas missing in sentences and some sentences where an extra word was needed for it to make sense.
